Feeling blue.

I used many soft layers of  brushtrokes to create a textured effect, giving depth and emotion to the piece. I want to evoke a sense of mystery and introspection.

Courage (The Pagliacci Series)

Pagliacci have always intrigued me. I am attracted by their confident presence.  They are dramatic yet enigmatic.  We never know what lies beneath their face. Many people love or hate the pagliacci, with no in-between.  I am one that loves them and sees endless similarities between the pagliaccio and the nature of human beings. Their performances can elicit a range of emotions, it gives many ideas for my paintings.

The Tulip Series,

2011 Mixed Media on Silk, mounted on canvas

This particular body of work is a mixed media. It was  painted  with dyes, the colors were set by steam,  the silk was then washed, iron and stretch it again on a temporary frame. It was mounted on the stretcher again  painted over with oil pastels and graphic markers .

I was selected by The Italian American Columbus Foundation to create evocative portraits of Christopher Columbus and his men for the 500th Anniversary of the Discovery of America and  was on the front and back cover of the "Columbus: Countdown 1992" Program & Journal for the awards-dinner .
