2022-2026 The Pagliacci Series

She went incognito

Clowns have always intrigued me. I am attracted by their confident presence.  They are dramatic yet enigmatic.  We never know what lies beneath their face. Many people love or hate the pagliacci, with no in-between.  I am one that loves them and sees endless similarities between the pagliaccio and the nature of human beings. Their performances can elicit a range of emotions, it gives many ideas for my paintings.

                This particular body of work is a mixed media. It was  painted  with dyes, the colors were set by steam,  the silk was then washed, iron and stretch it again on a temporary frame. It was mounted on the stretcher again  painted over with oil pastels and graphic markers .
